D/Mo Mystic Regen, Essence, Balthazar's Spirit Build
Hey guys... I've been playing with a Dervish since NF came out and I came up with a build that I've been using for PvE for most of the NF campaign.
I was inspired to post my build because I was playing with my new Warrior and I partied up with a lvl 20 Dervish at Jokanur Diggings (one of the first missions in NF) who died early on, even with the support of a lvl 10 Dunkoro, me (W/Mo), and another Dervish..he quit after he died and left my party to rot....needless to say, I was kinda mad...
Anyway, here's my build:
Scythe Mastery: 14 (w/ Sup Rune)
Earth Prayers: 10 (w/ Major Rune)
Mysticism: 11 (w/ Minor Rune)
Smiting Prayers: 8 (im not sure if u need this for balthazar's spirit or not...if u dont need it, jus put those attribute pts in Earth Prayers)
As for insignias, u can use anything, but i suggest using mostly Blessed Insignias or Windwalker Insignias
Skills:
-Reaper's Sweep
-Chilling Victory
-Conviction
-Mystic Regen
-Vital Boon
-Faithful Intervention
-Balthazar's Spirit (dont mix this up with avatar of Balthazar...)
-Essence Bond
Usage:
Just put up Essence, Balthazar, then Faithful Intervention as soon as u get into an explorable/mission area. Before running into a mob, put up Conviction and use Mystic Regen when needed. WOHOO it's that simple!
I find this build to be very efficient at keeping me alive, as Mytic Regen counteracts degenerating conditions, even when they're stacked on me. I consistently have max regen on me even with burning, poison, bleeding, etc.
This is fun to use in Prophecies, it can solo more than half of the campaign without too much difficulty and its fun to do so
Variants:
If u haven't figured out by now, this build relies heavily on enchants and any skills that remove enchants obviously kill this build so, in any areas that are filled with mesmers and other enchant stripping monsters, replace Reaper's Sweep with Mystic Sweep and Vital Boon with Vow of Silence.
With this variant, a scythe with an enchant mod would be VERY helpful..
For less serious PvP, like Fort Aspenwood, jus throw in Crippling Sweep
sumwhere and you're good to go
Thx for reading this and plz comment on it

What if I don't have Prophecy or Factions? How would I manage this?

well i guess it would be a problem if you didnt have Prophecies, seeing that Balthazar's Spirit and Essence Bond are skills from that campaign...
Those skills are pretty important to this build as they fuel Mystic Regen and help with energy management. Maybe you could try mixing a zealous+enchant scythe with a skill like Stoneflesh Aura (elementalist skill from nightfall) since you can't use the monk skills. This may be a little tough to manage though since you will have to juggle with the timing of recasting Conviction, Mystic Regen, and Stonflesh Aura while trying to manage your energy efficiently
Anyone else have any ideas?

For a profession like Dervish that relies on enchantments and spamming scythe attacks. Using skills that will drop your energy regen to that of a warrior seems more harmful that helpful.
To fuel there builds most dervish use a zealous mod on their scythes. If your going to have points in smiting perhaps using the skill Judge's Insight would be good, since it gives you 20% constant armor penetration.

ok, ill give you some comments:
the use of essence and balthz is an interesting idea. i dont think you really need it (you should have plenty energy to run a MR tank without any energy issues, plus if you arent being attacked, you dont gain energy), but still an interesting idea. but you dont need any points in smiting with balthz, it only increases the amount of adren you gain, so dump those points.
next, mysticisms energy bonus triggers on factors of 3, so 11 is a waste. drop it to 9 or boost it to 12. your only mysticism skill is faithful, but thats not worth boosting your points and not hitting the breakpoints.
next is the scythe level. 14 is the minimum a melee class should be running, so id take those points you removed from smiting and pump your scythe mastery up. they would be better spent in scythe master than they would in earth prayers. you are alrdy well exceeding the important break points for the skills you have (conviction at 6, MR at 8). so unless you are boosting it to 13, MR next breakpoint, better off in scythe.
